Type I interferon driven disease (Interferonopathies)

Clinical service description

Dedicated clinics for individuals with genetic autoimmune/inflammatory diseases caused by aberrant type I interferon, such as Aicardi Goutieres syndrome, are held twice a month at St Mary’s Hospital, Manchester. Both children and adults are seen in these clinics.

Our service provides diagnostic services and risk estimation for individuals, pregnancies and the extended family. We also review individuals with a confirmed diagnosis and offer entry into an NIHR funded follow up research study.

Referrals are accepted from GPs, medical specialists, specialist nurses and healthcare colleagues throughout England. Referrals should be made to Dr Tracy Briggs. Dr Tracy Briggs has undertook her PhD in this area with Professor Yanick Crow, with whom she continues to collaborate on a research basis.
