Main Aims

Is it possible to identify new genetic causes in individuals and families at risk of or diagnosed with suspected hereditary cancer?

Can these genes be rapidly developed into new genetic tests in the clinic?

Inclusion Criteria

Individuals at  risk of, or diagnosed with suspected hereditary cancers:

  • cancer in an individual under 50 years
  • cancer at any age with unusual features e.g. site, histopathology c) two or more cancers at any age in the same individual
  • cancer at any age in an individual with a strong or unusual history of cancers in the family
  • cancer at any age in an individual with a  strong or unusual history of cancers in the family which may not be explained by a known gene mutation  in the family
  • relative of a deceased family member fulfilling any of the above criteria who is willing and able to give informed consent for their relative for participation in the study.
Exclusion Criteria

Has a mutation in a known cancer predisposition gene that would explain the cancer pattern
