Our Staff

The clinical staff at the Manchester Centre for Genomic Medicine (MCGM) are a strong, diverse, multidisciplinary team comprising doctors, genetic counsellors, nurses, physiotherapists, dieticians and dedicated administrative staff. Most consultants are specialists in clinical genetics or metabolic medicine. Some clinicians with a specialised area of expertise undertake the clinical genetic aspects of a condition, or group of conditions.

Teaching is an important part of our work and we participate in formal training programmes for clinical geneticists, specialists in metabolic medicine, genetic counsellors and other healthcare professionals. We have close links to The University of Manchester and are involved in the training of undergraduate medical students. As a centre of excellence, we offer training to visiting fellows from other hospitals in the UK and overseas. We liaise closely with our colleagues in our genetic laboratories to discuss the interpretation of complex results, enabling integrated care.
