Dr Bill Newman is a consultant in Clinical Genetics with a special interest in the genetics of inherited cardiac disorders. He trained in Manchester in adult medicine and entered genetics in 1995. His PhD was on the genetics of bone development and osteoarthritis followed by a two year postdoctoral period at the University of Toronto. He was appointed as a consultant in Clinical Genetics in 2004. Dr Newman's research interests are in the genetics of common disease, including inflammatory bowel disease. He has a particular interest in the genetics of response to drugs (pharmacogenetics).
