Dr Bronwyn Kerr is a consultant clinical geneticist who qualified in paediatrics and genetics in Australia before moving to the UK in 1993. She was appointed as a consultant in the Regional Genetic Service in 1995, based largely at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital. Her main clinical interest is in the causes of developmental disability and congenital abnormality. Most of her clinical work takes place in district general hospitals within the region: Blackpool, Lancaster, Bury, Bolton, Trafford and Preston. Her research interests are X-linked mental retardation and Costello syndrome. She is a member of the medical advisory board of the International Costello Syndrome Support Group. She is actively involved in teaching, at the undergraduate and postgraduate level, particularly in the areas of counselling skills and clinical ethics. She is currently Clinical Director of the directorate of Genetic Medicine.
